My SHARE with Schools Experience: Placement Student Blog Post – Katie Crewe

I found my placement with Share with Schools an extremely useful experience that helped me in deciding potential career opportunities. The workshop preparation provided was incredibly helpful. It gave me a strong foundation in classroom skills, lesson planning, and teaching strategies, which allowed me to feel confident when I started. I appreciated how the workshops were practical and directly aligned with what I would encounter in the classroom.

The range of both primary and secondary school experiences is also invaluable in helping me decide what kind of teaching I will potentially pursue. Experiencing both environments gave me a broader understanding of the teaching profession and helped me determine which age group resonated with me.

One of the aspects that I particularly liked was the independence I was given throughout the placement. I was encouraged to take initiative and lead activities, allowing me to build confidence in my teaching abilities. Being trusted to take on the responsibility of creating lesson plans, leading small groups, and engaging with students in meaningful ways was empowering. This allowed me to see what the day-to-day realities of teaching would be like.
