My SHARE with Schools Experience: Volunteer Blog Post – Eddie Leach

7 May 2025

SHARE with schools has been a wonderful experience that I am grateful I applied for. It has become a wonderful memory that I am grateful for and has boosted my confidence in public speaking, organisation, and teamwork. Despite applying late into my third year I still manage to fulfil my certificate and have multiple beneficial experiences, including two workshops at a local secondary school. The workshops were fun and exciting for both me and the children, I enjoyed running the games they played and helping to teach them. It also made me feel confident in my university course as I fully understood everything we were teaching. It was lovely being able to talk to the children about my university experience and hope that it inspired them to consider university as a future option. As someone who is considering teaching as a career path it has made me more confident in my belief to fulfil this and I am very glad for the opportunity this has provided me. Overall, I greatly encourage this outreach project to anyone that enjoys religion, archaeology, and history, or who is considering teaching as a career path, it was very enjoyable and an experience I will never forget.
