My SHARE with Schools Experience: Volunteer Blog Post – Megan King

9 May 2025

Volunteering at Windsor Clive Primary School was a great opportunity to work with younger pupils and teach them about their local history and archaeology. It was very fun to engage directly with the pupils, especially since personally I was not taught about archaeology in my primary school.

We brought a variety of real and replica pieces of archaeology with us to show the pupils. It was a great chance for them to see archaeology in person and be able to ask questions about where the objects were found, what they were used for and how old they were. We also explained different archaeological processes by presenting tools like trowels and drawing equipment so the pupils could see how excavations are performed. It was a great chance to directly engage with the local community and teach a younger audience about our field of work. Seeing the pupils get excited about the subjects I am passionate about was very rewarding and I would highly recommend volunteering with SHARE!
