My SHARE with Schools Experience: Volunteer Blog Post – Molly Mooney

17 February 2025
Volunteers Charlotte and Molly alongside Coordinator Cecil at our Grangetown Careers Stall

I had a great time at the Grangetown careers fair. SHARE with schools set up a booth with artefacts, both real and replicas, and some archaeological tools for people to explore and encourage conversation. I had to chance to have some interesting interactions with people of all ages. It was a lot of fun to talk to the younger children present about archaeology and get them excited about the past. Some of them asked some very interesting questions. They really enjoyed getting to handle the artifacts and touching items that are thousands of years old. The replica roman helmet was very popular and lots of children had a good laugh trying it on. I also enjoyed talking to some of the older students about what it’s like to study ancient history at university. It was nice to get to share my experiences and offer advice to students considering studying history or archaeology.
