Project: Modelling of long-term morphological evolution in estuaries and coasts

CHAOAfter obtaining the Geographic Science bachelor degree form Nanjing University, I started a 6-year PhD Programme (09/2011 – 06/2017) in State Key laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Sciences in East China Normal University. During the PhD programme, I had a 2-year visit to the School of Engineering at Cardiff University (06/2014 – 07/2016), working with Shunqi in the coastal group, supported by China Scholarship Council. My research is mainly focused on the River-Ocean Interaction and coastal-estuarine processes in the Yellow River (Huanghe) Delta, with statistical analysis of measured data (field work) and numerical model (Telemac2D), as follows: (1) the geomorphic evolution of the Yellow River Estuarine Submerged Delta in the past several decades (Fig. 1), and its relationships with river supplement and response to climate change and human activity in river basin; (2) Application of TELEMAC-2D and SISYPHE to the Yellow River Estuarine for sediment transport and geomorphic evolution (Fig. 2).
