Richard Rees

Project: Flood Risk Assessment from Extreme Weather

Richard Rees is funded with an EPSRC WISE CDT scholarship from Sept 2016.

Qualifications
Aberystwyth University, Environmental Earth Science BSc. Hons. Cardiff University, Applied Environmental Geology MSc. (Distinction). Dissertation: Geotechnical Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) of Network Rail Western Route assets (Distinction).

Richard will be based at the Hydro-environmental Research Centre at Cardiff University. Although a precise research topic has not been given, he is expected to be working on predictive modelling of geotechnical instability risk arising from adverse weather events i.e. flooding from fluvial or coastal storm surges. Ideally, these models will be calibrated and validated against real time monitoring telemetry of appropriate sites.
