Project: Storm surge, salt intrusion in estuaries and hypoxia in an upwelling system in The Pearl River Estuary

Dr Jingui Liu from Guangdong Ocean University joined the group in Nov 2025 for 12 months. His research during his visit is to investigate saline fronts and salt intrusion and their controls based on numerical results, analyze storm surge disasters during super typhoons in the Pearl River Estuary using numerical and observational data, and explore hypoxia dynamics in an upwelling system off Eastern Hainan and Western Guangdong coasts.
