Integrating the 9 skills
Cardiff University is undertaking two major programmes of work led by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience: Skills for Success and Curriculum 2035. Together, these initiatives are designed to ensure that our students develop the skills, experiences and talent needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. As part of this work, the University’s six Graduate Attributes have been reviewed and reimagined as the 9 Skills for Success – a future-focused model that reflects the needs of students, employers and society.
The 9 Skills for Success provide a foundation for curriculum design, enhancement and the wider student experience. They support the ambitions of the Changemakers Curriculum by helping students develop the capabilities gained through employability, experiential learning, global opportunities, enterprise, civic engagement and public value activities. More than a set of graduate skills, they offer an approach that connects learning, personal development and future success, ensuring Cardiff graduates are well prepared for the workplace and able to make a positive impact in their communities and professions.
The refresh of graduate attributes demonstrates that the university prioritises employability and personal development. For all staff, students and employers this reflects that the graduates that come from Cardiff University are what the world needs.
